Creating an image with fewer than 120 tiles is an extraordinary challenge.
In fact, this image of Jesus really only takes form when when the viewer is standing at a distance of at least 10 feet. When the light level in the room is low (and the cones in the eye cease to perceive color), the image eases into focus. (Simulated below).
Measuring 9" x 13" this piece was constructed with a variety of 1" x 1" gemstones including Bloodstone, Tiger's Eye, Botswana Agate, Picasso Jasper, Carnelian, Unakite, Dalmatian Jasper, Fossil, Rhodonite, Red Jasper, Rose Quartz and Tiger's Iron.
